Dawsons receive Baulderstone Safety Innovation Award

Leadership in safety - Most Improved

Awarded by Baulderstone Queensland to the contractor who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and has shown continued and improved safety systems, processes,culture and commitment to project safety objective's whilst undertaking subcontractor project work for Baulderstone Queensland.

Improvement in the implementation of Baulderstone and Dawsons safety systems led to an impressive 56,000 hours LTI Free onsite and Dawsons accepting the Baulderstone Safety Innovation Award at an event held in Townsville Wednesday 26th October 2011.

Dawsons were onsite undertaking a project for supply and installation of aluminium and stainless steel stairs, platforms, walkways, guardrails, grating, anchor points, access covers, trench cover plates, sump grating, cover frames and pipe supports. The project also extended to Mechanical installation of client supplied blowers, pumps, mixers, wash press, screens dosing systems and pipework.

Dawsons Project Management Teams commitment to overall project safety:

  • Improved communication and consultation - both with Dawsons personnel and Baulderstone management team.

  • Leadership in hazard identification, incident reporting and investigations - Dawsons project management team taking a proactive approach on all site safety objectives, reporting and investigating all incidences and near misses.

  • Mentoring and coaching personnel to comply with onsite safety systems and to embrace safety.The continued use of procedural tools such as prestart meeting's, toolbox talks and specialised training. The continued high quality supervision of all work groups.
