News - Dawsons hosts PNG Students for workplace visits

March 2011 Dawsons Training Division recently coordinated with Tropical North Queensland TAFE to provide workplace visits for three groups of visiting PNG students. Students were given a walk through the various departments of Dawsons Engineering's Cairns workshop and particularly enjoyed the opportunity to see how the various department roles and functions worked together. The students have been studying a range of Construction modules at TAFE and the visit to Dawsons operation provided them with the opportunity to appreciate how the theory gained in the classroom was put in to practice within a real company. During their visit, they viewed a range of activities in the workshop, including fabrication, welding and machining. The groups also enjoyed sitting in on a session of Confined Space training delivered to local workers. |
